This is so great and special day, which reminds us the days when our great leaders fought for India againt British to achive independence and peace. We salute those who have laid down their lives for the safety and security of the nation.
Although India obtained its independence on August 15, 1947, the Constitution of India came into force on January 26, 1950. During the transition period from 1947 to 1950, King George VI was the head of state. Lord Mountbatten and C. Rajagopalachari served as the Governors-General of India during this period. Following January 26, 1950, Rajendra Prasad was elected as the first president of India.
A republic is a state or country that is not led by a hereditary monarch. A Republic India signifies the end of British domination on Indian people. This day signifies the power of Non Violence to lead a country to Victory with total Dignity.
